Rebecca's Memoir - Chapter 1

A new chapter emerges from an old story in which now I feel as a ghost, returning to a life that is no longer mine.  Was it ever mine to claim or was it a gift lent to a young girl in search of her truth?  In all certainty it was a gift; a gift of many gifts.  Like a Chinese puzzle box, each compartment was a treasure which revealed the key to another in an endless journey of inspired anticipation and illuminated gratitude.

Now I sit perched within this airplane, my metallic eagle, soaring towards my dying teacher, Sarita; both of us seemingly between worlds.  From this vantage of air and light, intermingled with death’s inevitability, I see that this gift was never just mine to claim.  Yes I lived this life, but the stories weaved throughout it and the power they offer is for every human on this planet.

That is how Sarita would have wanted it; one tree serving all of Humanity.  Perhaps I was a part of that tree, or the water that fed it, or maybe just a passerby delighting in its fruits.  Either way, I sense that this gift has only just begun to reveal itself to me and that the ghost of me has returned not to say a final farewell, but to resurrect anew an old dream passed through an ancient lineage that began long before Sarita took me in.

As I write these words, I can feel her presence passing through.  The moment is heightened and the air, saturated with her presence.  As if I could breathe her in, I slowly inhale.  Sarita is here, passing through on the wings of Death or one of her infamous astral travels, I do not know.  But she is here nonetheless.

A comforting warmth spreads through my body and nudges the ghost of me to resurrect.   The surge of inspiration rises within me and these words drop into my being, ‘I move into the light of life as she passes into another light, the light of Death and within it all, nothing changes.’
